An Escapade to Cameron Highlands

Tea Plantation in Cameron Highlands

Cameron Highlands is the smallest district in the state of Pahang but its reputation far exceeds its geographical boundaries. Cameron Highlands is the largest and most famous hill resort in the whole country. The place is so popular and is often called one of the wonders of Malaysia. The visitors who yearly make a point of visiting are so ensorcelled by its beauty that they can't stop coming back for more. One of the exotic flair of his highland paradise is its that it has much of the charm of a typical English village.

Cameron Highlands is located on the Titiwangsa Range at about 1500 metres above sea-level. One of the so called features of this area are the sudden changes in temperature which can go from hot and steamy to a chilly 16°C or lower at certain times (certainly not freezing, but quite cold for the country standard.) The whole zone is primarily an agricultural domain and you can find an abundance of vegetables and fruits farms in the area. But vegetables and fruits are not the only thing that is farmed in Cameron Highlands, as this place is the leading producer of flowers and tea in Malaysia. These flowers are exotic commodities and some are not found at any other place in Malaysia.

Cameron Highlands is made up of 4 main townships followed by smaller settlements at different elevations.

Because of its popularity, over development of the highlands has lead to some environmental concerns, organizations like WWF Malaysia does try to make people aware and hopefully help to protect the pristine Cameron Highlands.
