Heritage Hotel Cameron Highlands

A nice beautiful view of Hotel Heritage. Captured it while I was scouting out Father's Guesthouse which was located on the opposite hill.

Heritage Hotel Cameron Highlands sits atop a hill located side by side with SK Convent School in Tanah Rata, Heritage Hotel is situated at a height of about 1,500 meters above sea level. That makes it the same height as Brinchang town even though it is located at Tanah Rata.

Coming up the main road to Tanah Rata, you can see its Tudor style architecture jutting out prominently from the road. It is surrounded by lush tropical forest; however the tall structure means you do not really feel the tropical surrounding. Depending on your room location, you may get a good panoramic view of Tanah Rata town.

As usual, the Tudor styled architecture is a must-have to evoke the ambience of an old English countryside. This is very much in keeping with the theme of Cameron Highland. Although I have seen new buildings which balk at this Tudor architecture theme and you end up with mish-mash architecture style. It is good that Heritage Hotel is in keeping with this Tudor architecture.

The entry to Heritage Hotel is at the north-western end of Tanah Rata. Just above the road, you can see the old Roman Catholic SK Convent School. As you reached the entry gate to the hotel resort grounds, there is a junction to the left that leads to a budget accommodation called Father's Guesthouse which you can read my review if you are looking for really, really cheap accommodation.

In addition, Heritage Hotel Cameron Highlands shares the same location with Greenhill Resort Apartment. However they are not under the same management though they both share the same compound.

Heritage Hotel is very conveniently located, so it is quite an easy walk down the hill to the heart of Tanah Rata town. You could leave your car, MPV or whatever that you drove up to Cameron Highlands if you want to explore Tanah Rata further without driving down. Gives you a good nice exercise walking to town besides nowadays is rather difficult to get a parking space in Tanah Rata so walking down might be a good idea!

For those who joined the Heritage Vacation Club, you could spend your points in this hotel. Since my dad is a member, my parents do stay often in Heritage Hotel and they do enjoy it! So I guess I get to stay here too sometimes. But with so many hotels to explore and review, I don't always get to enjoy my inheritance, no?

Interestingly, Heritage Hotel has a long stay guest program which provide special room rate. However there is a catch, you need to stay for 21 days. From what I see at RM120 nett per night that comes to a whopping RM2520 for the duration of your stay!

Let's see what guest amenities they provide:

  • 238 Rooms and suites
  • IDD (International Direct Dialing) telephone system
  • Complimentary coffee & tea making facilities
  • Colour TV with In-House video movies
  • Mini bar (stocked upon request)
  • Inter-connecting rooms available
  • Shower & bath
  • Attached balcony
  • Newspaper
  • Wake-up call service

For those who want to eat in within the hotel whether being a little lazy to hop out to Tanah Rata town and beyond or perhaps it is pouring outside, you could try out their various Food and Beverage amenities. They have The Rainforest café which gives you western style a la carte menu. You can hold up here enjoy browsing the internet with their WIFI provided.

Perhaps you are feeling a little English, you could hop on over to their Vintage Bar and go a couple of rounds of beverage and cocktails while watching some Astro program or listen to music. The Vintage Bar opens from 4pm till midnight though.

Or if you prefer some Chinese Cantonese meal, you could head down to their Jasmine Garden Restaurant and try out their normal or porridge steamboat.

Here's a little not so well known secret if you are roaming around the Heritage Hotel grounds. I happen to walk into this quaint little garden located behind the hotel. You can see it when you go to their Jasmine Garden Chinese Restaurant. It is well tended and landscaped with bushes and archways with plants and creepers growing around it. Makes a nice little labyrinth of sorts but don't worry, you won't get lost in it! There is a nice pool with some stone paths and a little bridge crossing over it. So bring along your camera and your girlfriend or boyfriend or if you are already married, your family and little ones and snap some memorable photos! You will enjoy it!
