Post subject: Unresponsive hotels via email

I had a reader who tried to email to Century Pines, but unfortunately they didn't seem to reply. If you noticed, I never really post any emails of the hotels in the hotel list. Most of them aren't really technically savvy. You have to contact them the traditional way like using fax or by telephone call. I did my room booking using the good ol' telephone way.

So I gave her the contact details:

Century Pines Resort:
Tel: +605 491 5115
Fax: +605 491 1115

Anybody the same experience?

Post subject: Hotel service

Hello Cosmos,

The best way to do bookings still via telephone call. However even that I had a reader who mentioned that Dahlia Villa reception was rather rude when taking their calls. What in the world is Cameron Highlands Hotels service industry is coming to? This is not a take it and leave it kind of thing. Businesses survive by giving superior service than your competitors. Hope they buck up and give service with a smile.

Regarding your question, nope, I'm true blue lowland blubber enjoying my occassional break on the highlands and enjoying running a travel related website about Cameron Highlands!

Post subject: Hotel Service

Rude receptionist? Maybe too many tourist to handle at one time and chances are there is only ONE receptionist!!!

As for me, I always uses the service of my trusted travel agent to book and wire the $$ after making my "desktop research".

BTW, the internet signal, like the cellphone, is pretty dodgy up at Cameron Highlands. So read your email and keep your reply short and fast.

Even if swamped still shouldn't be rude. A weak smile is better than nothing. As human nature goes, the caller should also be polite too to extract the best possible service, who knows you might get a little extra for being nice.

Usually the big name hotels will allow you to book without a deposit in hand (off peak) but they may still let go your room to other walk in customers who come first. However on peak periods to ensure your room availability you will need to put in a deposit first.

Post subject: Rosa Pasadena

Aug 1993. Pretty noisy back then as the roads were busy with heavy vehicles plying this route to Gua Musang, Kelantan. Now they were prohibited to by-pass Cameron Highlands as the roads could not "take-it" anymore.

Rosa Pasadena was a simple hotel with the main problem I faced was that the car park is very much a public car park. So you may ended up having to park further from the hotel lobby.

Dec 2005, Jun 2006 and Aug 2007... Same hotel, same location and same problem of car park BUT the pasar malam is bigger!
